Number Five
Radiohead – “Creep”
Anthemic, and powerful written about us all at some point in our lives, some more than others. For me it conjures up memories of two particular chapters of my life where I have been totally awe struck by the beauty and grace of the interested party – and completely struggled to begin to see what they saw in me. I, being generally low in self confidence at those times, began to feel out of place, awkward and ultimately shrank beneath my puzzled veneer until there was nothing left of substance.
When you were here before
Couldnt look you in the eye
Youre just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
And I wish I was special
Youre so fuckin special
But Im a creep,
Im a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I dont belong here.
I dont care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When Im not around
Youre so fuckin special
I wish I was special
But Im a creep,
Im a weirdo.
What the hell am I doing here?
I dont belong here.
Shes running out again,
Shes running out
Shes run run run running out...
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
Youre so fuckin special
I wish I was special...
But Im a creep,
Im a weirdo,
What the hell am I doing here?
I dont belong here.I dont belong here.

"Creep" is the first single released by the English alternative rock band Radiohead, and is a track on their debut album, Pablo Honey, 1993. It was written by the band's singer, Thom Yorke, and released in the United Kingdom initially in September 1992. When it was first given limited release, however, Radio 1 found it "too depressing",[1] and removed it from their playlist after airing it only twice. However, it subsequently became one of the band's biggest hits, and became their only Top 40 hit in the United States until 2008's "Nude", despite the success of their further albums in the country.

The Go-Betweens “Bye Bye Pride”
From the moment I first heard this song it was a favourite of mine. I stumbled upon the Go-Betweens quite accidently at a gig in London in 1987. I seem to remember they opened with this song and from the second that Amanda put lips to wood and belted out the opening on her clarinet I was hooked. It was the song I showcased to people when illustrating the genius of the Australian indie giants. Virtually any compilation of great music I have made over the last twenty-years would have this joyful refreshing and thoughtful ditty in it.
If you haven’t heard of them, and you like some of the other music on here – then let a little bit of them into your life.
The following is from the CNN website.
By CNN's Barry Neild
“Long admired by critics and more successful contemporaries, Australian musician Grant McLennan -- co-founder of The Go-Betweens -- wrote lush, poetic songs that could break hearts and mend marriages. But when he died earlier this month at the age of 48, most people had still never heard of him.
Following his fatal heart attack at home in Brisbane, scores of fans and celebrity admirers, who have in the past included U2, R.E.M. and Coldplay, logged on to the band's Web site to share their grief, while highbrow newspapers such as Los Angeles Times and Britain's Guardian rattled off deeply affectionate obits.”
“the door is always open wide.”
A white moon appears
Like a hole in the sky,
The mangroves go quiet.
In la brisa de la palma
A teenage rasputin
Takes the sting from a gin,
When a woman learns to walk
She’s not dependent anymore
A line front her letter may 24
And out on the bay
The current is strong
A boat can go lost.
But I didn’t know someone
Could be so lonesome
Didn’t know a heart
Could be tied up
And held for ransom.
Until you take your shoes
And go outside, stride over stride.
Walk to that tide because
The door is open wide.
Turned the fan off
And went for a walk
By the lights down on shield street.
The birds in the trees
Open their wings ...
He goes home again.
He dreams resistance,
They talk commitment,
Things change over long distance.
Took the shirt off his back
The eyes from his head
And left him for dead.
But I didn’t know someone
Could be so lonesome
Didn’t know a heart
Could be tied up
And held for ransom.
Until you take your shoes
And go outside, stride over stride,
Walk to that tide because
The door is open wide.
Little lies, they’ll take your pride.
Until you take your shoes
And go outside. stride over stride,
Walk to that tide because
The door is open wide.
Stride over stride
Walk to that tide.
Bye, bye pride.
Because the door is open wide.
The door is always open wide.
The door is always open wide.

Number Three
The Cure – “Just Like Heaven”
Perfection – the acoustic version of this is best as it tends to fuss a lot less. It represents the fleetingly fantastic moments in my life – those all too brief snatches of unbridled happiness that often finish suddenly, just like the song. It has grown in its importance to me as I have grown and has taken on different meanings.
"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it
And I promise you
I promise that I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"
Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways
I had To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
That I'm in love with you"
You Soft and only
You Lost and lonely
You Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream
Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me
You Soft and only
You Lost and lonely
You Just like heaven

"Just like Heaven" is a song by the British alternative rock band The Cure. The group largely wrote the song during recording sessions in Southern France in 1987. The lyrics were written by the band's frontman Robert Smith, who drew inspiration from a past trip to the sea shore with his future wife. Before Smith had completed the lyrics an instrumental version of the song was used as the theme for the French television show Les Enfants du Rock.
